Subway and First D to hire 7,000

People in Northern Ireland have been offered some positive job new after a financial services company and US sandwich chain Subway both announced they are creating new jobs. First Derivatives, which is a leading provider of consultancy and software solutions, said it plans to create 150 new jobs at its offices in Newry, Co Down. At the same time Subway, which has 87 Northern Ireland outlets, announced plans to generate a further 400 jobs across the region over the next two years with the opening of an additional 40 outlets. The fast food firm will create a further 6,600 jobs elsewhere in the UK. At First Derivatives, 132 new consultancy positions and 10 managerial posts will be offered, doubling the size of the company. Northern Ireland economy minister Arlene Foster said: "Central to First Derivatives`s success has been a focus on the continuous development of its consultancy services and software portfolio which have attracted most of the world's largest financial institutions as clients."
